Tropicana City Mall

We always drive pass the Tropicana City Mall in PJ, so we'd thought we drop by to see what it has to offer.

The place is still quite new. The layout is just your typical shopping mall. It has a transparent rooftop where you have that cliche - "Shop under the sun".

Most of the shops are open. It is not as big as Pavilion or MV, but it does try to bring out the best.

Time for lunch. We saw this place - Otak-Otak Place. Out of curiousity, we've decided to try this place.

The renovation of the place is based on the 60's concept. It has the Baba-Nyonya style. Notice the bicycle they placed on top of the shelf as deco... Nice!

Even the table mat resembles the "guli" game we used to play when we were kids.


They we having a lunch promotion. The value = RM18.00. The set consists of:

1) 2 glasses of beverages. Choose either Lemon Tea or Barley. We took both. The Barley is homemade, and taste just like mum's homemade!

2) Soup. We don't really like this as this does not suit our taste bud too much.

3) Chicken. I don't remember the name of this chicken but this was delicious. It has some "kampung" taste in it.

4) Acar. This is quite good! I finish the whole plate since Vincent is not a fan.


5) Tau fu. Somehow, the funny taste of this tau fu made it quite delicious. It has the most resemblance to the food that I normally eat.

6) I have no idea what this is, but since it was in my camera, I have to post it up since it is in the set as well LOL!

7) Steamed otak-otak. Their signature dish. This is very good! Fantastic! If you are a fan of otak-otak, you should really try this. Vincent has never liked this dish, but he agrees that this is delicious!
And he decided to order the barbequed otak-otak. This is RM0.60 per stick. 1 order has 5 sticks.


A good place to go for otak-otak, and also a nice place to reminisce the good ol' days

Ah Yat Abalone Forum Restaurant, PJ

I had dinner with my father last Saturday. He decided to bring my sister and I to Ah Yat Abalone Forum restaurant in PJ with my lil brother.

I must admit, I was a quite surprise to receive my father's call... Actually, I'm always surprised when he calls. He asked us for dinner, so I said yes. It's time to catch up with him anyways. Sigh sometimes I do feel guilty for not making the effort to visit him.


While my father and sister decides what to order, my lil brother is busy enjoying himself with everything and anything. For those who have not met my lil brother, here he is.

We ordered a few dishes. One of it is the Black Vinegar Pork. This was as scrumptious as the picture looked! At first, I thought it would be sourish, but it was actually quite sweet with a hint of vinegar taste. My brother basically finished the whole plate himself!


My father order the fish something. I was not involve in the ordering, so I really can't recall the name of this dish. This was not bad too.


The vege that we ordered... A simple one.


This fried rice is my brother's favourite. They actually pushed out the cooking utensils and ingredients and cooked in front of us. As a first timer, I stood up to have a look... Of course, my brother was tailing me as well I couldn't finish my share, so my lil brother actually helped me finished my rice lol! He is really a big eater


Time for group photo. I sent my brother to called a waiter to help us take this picture, and he went immediately. Yes, he is not afraid of strangers. Quite a good job I must say!


The restaurant captain was quite taken and "charmed" by my lil brother, and gave him a packet of chocolates! Compliments of the restaurant. We were actually leaving but my brother insisted that someone had promised him chocolates. True enough, the captain came running with the chocolates just for my brother

Chanel gifts

Every time I drop by Vincent's aunt's Chanel counter in Berjaya Times Square, I will return home with my bag heavier and fuller... And I ain't complaining! She always showers me with gifts from Chanel... Anything she can get her hands on. If that's not enough, she always ask me if I need anything else and will get that for me too. YAY!

Check out the stuffs she gave this time:

1) Makeup bag - Just the accessory I need. I've been meaning to get a new makeup bag but it's just not worth it to buy one when so many brands give this for free. Alas, I have my very own Chanel makeup bag I especially love the shiny part at the back. It can actually pass off as a casual clutch if you hold the shiny part outwards.


2) Head band - This is huge and very soft against the skin. Love it! Just the perfect "accessory" when I have my mask on.


3) 3 perfume vials


These 3 perfume vials are 3 different perfumes, which are:

a) Chanel Chance - It's a fresh, floral fragrance that is pretty strong. I bought this for my mum last year, and she loves it. I love it too, but not to the extent of buying one bottle myself. I have 2 more vials of this.


b) Chanel No. 5 - This smells very baby-powdery (Rock Chic's favourite). It's a very classic smell... Very feminine and smells mysterious.


c) Chanel Allure Home Sport (for men) - I love this! I always get Vincent to use this but he just refuses to use any perfume or cologne. I wanted to get a bottle of this for him but he warned me that the bottle will just collect dust, so I didn't get it for him. I like the way it made him "manlier"-smelling lol


I love love love my stuffs!!! It's always a surprise whenever I visit his aunt... Free gifts! I should be paying a visit to her soon to collect a free gift from the mailer I received from Chanel. Yay!! More FOC stuffs! Very economical

Capsquare

I heard about this place from my colleague. They went to Capsquare Modesto's right after La Bodega on Friday for the live band. Since I was in the neighborhood last Sunday, I thought I'd drop by to check out the place. Capsquare's website: http://www.capsquare.com.my/


The place is very quiet... Maybe cos it's still very new. Only a few shops were open although some already has tenant. There was a supermarket that sells lots of imported goods called Olives. I found some of the items that I used to have when I was in Australia in this place! Impressive! The price here is quite reasonable too.


We decided to have our dinner here, and the only place open was Starbucks, Coffee Bean, a pub and a place called Tappers. Haven't tried Tappers before, we decided to give it a go.

The place is decorated in white. At first glance, I'd thought it would serve western food only, but it is a mix of western and Hainan style cooking. Their beverages is about the same as what they would serve in local kopitiams.

I ordered an Iced Teh Si (RM2.80) and Tappers Club Sandwich (RM5.00). Their food is relatively cheap! Although the Iced Teh Si is so-so, the Club Sandwich was delicious! I'd admit it doesn't look too appetising, but it was quite good.


Vincent ordered a Hot Cham (RM2.80) and their signature dish - Tappers Chicken Chop (RM9.50). Apparently, this is served in Hainan style. The top layer of the Chicken Chop was fried with egg, which is quite different with the normal chicken chops which are fried with flour. The sauce has a local twist in it as it was close to sweet chili taste. I'd reckon this is a good try cos it is something different from what we have. And for that price, we had 2 pieces of chicken chop!


The deco in this place deserves praise. I love the white concept.

We should be visiting Capsquare next time when it has more shops available.

Prinze Cafe, SS2

Since we will be driving down to SS2 last Saturday, I thought we'd try the food in SS2 square. Vincent is never a PJ person, so he was not very keen with the idea... But I managed to persuade him to try new stuff

I wanted to try the local kopitiam, but he being fussy, he wants somewhere more cooling. Plus, it was really hot that day. He saw Prinze Cafe when I was looking for parking, and decided to have lunch there since it is air-conditioned.


They served tidbits upon our entry, and it was one of my favourites! After scheming through the menu (and taking picture of it), we placed our order.

I ordered the Fried Udon set (RM12.90). This set came with your choice of soup (mushroom or borsch) and beverage (Yin Yong, Iced Lemon Tea, etc which I couldn't remember). I picked mushroom soup with Iced Yin Yong.


The Yin Yong tasted refreshing! The cool liquid just trickles down my throat, and it was just nice - not too sweet or diluted. The mushroom was also a surprised! Normally when the soup comes with set, it is always very bland or it has too much water in the mixture. But this mushroom soup was actually very thick and tasty! It actually tasted like mushroom soup. I was impressed up to here. Then the Fried Udon came, and I was again very satisfied with the food quality.

Vincent ordered the Nasi Bojari set (RM15.90 - This was a promotional price cos there were having Mother's Day Special promo). The set came with your choice of soup (as above) and drinks (as above). He opted for Iced Yin Yong and the Borsch Soup.


Again, the Borsch Soup was as delicious as the Mushroom Soup! It was thick and did tasted like soup instead of overdosed of water with some seasoning in it. The Nasi Bojari serving was huge, at least for me. The fried chicken was delicious. The chef took the effort to skin the meat off the bone to make our lifes easier. I can eat the fried chicken in peace without having to battle with it! Cool!

The credit goes to the chefs. They took the extra effort to wow their customers with their cooking. I was amazed to know that there are still cafes like this that take the extra mile to prove that they do care about their food quality and customer satisfaction. This is definitely worth a try!

La Bodega, Pavilion

Time of the week - Relax and unwind on Friday. As usual, the venue is La Bodega, Pavilion.


As a dedicated reformed alcoholic, I ordered Cosmopolitan (RM25) while Shy Flirt ordered her usual, i.e. white wine. Justine ordered San Mia beer and kept insisting it's low calories beer. I reckon my Cosmo is not neat enough


We also ordered some finger food, which are Fried Calamari and Chicken Sausage. I've always love the Fried Calamari! The Chicken Sausage is not too bad either.


Stayed and chatted until about 8pm. The rest of them left for Modestos, Capsquare after that. Apparently there was a live band. Highlight of the evening: The mouth vs a*$ question

May Birthday Babies

It was our monthly birthday celebration in our department where we will celebrate the birthdays for all who were born in that particular month, and yesterday was for the May babies. They are Faye, Azim and Pn. Yati.

Cake was bought from Lavender again... But I ain't complaining cos I'm a fan of Lavender cakes Surprisingly, I was the only one with camera (that was working), so I became the official photographer lol


Faye, my partner in crime a.k.a. my Pou Sister received a few gifts from all of us. She is my Pou Sis cos she is one of my Pou Kaki's... A very good dancer!! Believe it or not, I went clubbing with her mum before! LOL! Anyways, the gifts (picture below) we bought for her were:

1. La Senza nightgown
2. Shu Uemura eyelash curler
3. Diva Bangle
4. Diva earrings

So many pressies! I wish I have them too *hint hint* LOL. My sister's birthday is this Sunday. Here's wishing her HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!
