Sakae Sushi

Am going to blog about one of our favourite Jap restaurants - Sakae Sushi. The outlet that we always go to is the one in Pavilion, obviously for convenience sake.

There is a reason why we always come back to this Jap restaurant. I think the food here is one of the best (for the price range) and it's fresh!

Also, I prefer the idea of myself refilling my green tea (RM2.00 per cup). I hate waiting forever for the waitress to refill my green tea. At this place, I get to refill my green tea, all at the pleasure of my own seat.

A must for me - Salmon (RM5.90). This dish must be fresh. There was once I went to another Jap restaurant and when they served me this, it had a very strong smell of their fridge. Must have kept it in their freezer/fridge for a long time before they served it. But here, it almost never fails me. Not the best, but for the price, it is acceptable.

Something new in their menu - Mango & Soft Shell Crab (RM12.90). I love anything sushi that has mango... So this is why I ordered this, and I loved it! The soft shell crab was crispy, and the mango was sweet. Both the taste are scrumptious blended together!

While waiting for his order, Vincent grabbed this from the conveyor belt. Tuna sushi - RM1.90.

This is his main meal, and his main reason for coming back to this place again and again. He will always order this - Curry Katsu Don (RM13.90). Somehow, this place serves the best Curry Katsu! It's really good - Not too heavy curry taste, with the Katsu Don fried perfectly! Yummy!

Another visit to Ying Ker Lou

Hungry for yet another round of Hakka food, we went over to Ying Ker Lou in Pavilion. They just opened a new branch couple of weeks back. As mentioned in my previous posts, we really love this place because they serve real authentic Hakka food. I should know because my mum is Hakka, and the food serve here is almost the same as my mum's home cooked!

The setting and deco is almost the same as the other branches of Ying Ker Lou, except the air cond here was really strong... full blast!

As usual, their appetizer - Braised peanuts (RM3.00)

Strangely, after our numerous visit to this place, we have yet to try their noodle. We picked this, which is one of their chef recommendation. It's the Hakka Minced Pork Bantiao (RM13.90). This tasted yummy! Those who love salted fish will love this dish. Saltiness just right with a tad of salted fish taste.

My mum always cook this dish for us, and I love her style. When this dish, i.e. Hakka Fried Pork (RM24.00) was served, I really hope it's almost near to my mum's style, and yet again, it did not disappoint me! This tasted almost and very close to the way my mum does it! It's really that good!

A simple dish - Fried Egg with Radish & Sausage (RM13.00)

We ordered the Green Tea for our beverage. Now, we don't normally do this, but I dunno what got into Vincent and he opened the lid of the teapot. We were surprised that instead of using tea bag, they really did use the greet TEA! Literally tea leaves! It was good! Well, for RM4.00 per person, it'd better be good.

Obviously, this will not be our last visit to this place lol!

An amazing discovery...

... For me that is.

I was at Tesco the other day to look for baking utensils etc, and stumbled across this fantastic discovery! smiley face When I first saw it, it looked like a tupperware, but it was too small to keep anything in there for mobility sake. This is how it looks like.

So I read the label that came along with it. Little did I know that this 'lil "tupperware" is a cooking utensil to cook EGG in a microwave! Yes, we can have our usual telur mata kerbau in a nice round shape using a microwave! The hassle saved from heating up a frying pan, pouring the oil, cracking the egg into the pan (and bear with the oil splatting on your hand). Then serve it up, and you still have to go wash the spatula and the pan.

I dunno if there is a name for this, but I've called it the egg cooker (lame). All I have to do is crack the egg into it, pour soy sauce or/and pepper if you like, close the lid, pop it into the microwave and set it at 30 seconds to 1 minute (depending how cook/raw you want your egg to be). The result - Nice, round-shaped egg Happy smiley face

The egg cracked in the egg cooker. You can cook 2 eggs at once but for this round, I only did 1 egg.

The result after having it in the microwave for 30 seconds.

Scrap it out of the cooker and serve it. Ta-da! Nice, round egg - No hassle, healthy and easy! The best part?? It costs only RM2.00!! What can I say? We must have more of these convenient items! smiley face

Ps. To scrap the egg easily from the cooker, I lined the cooker with margarine. The egg will come off easier and in a nicer shape. Plus, it's easier to wash the egg cooker without the egg white sticking to it.

Dinner @ Kampachi

The other day, we received an sms from Alex to go for dinner at Kampachi in Pavilion. Since we were free, so we replied "yes" for the dinner.

Our first time here actually LOL. Whenever we stand outside this restaurant looking at its menu, we'll surely change our mind and go elsewhere. So now we have a chance to try this restaurant!

The sake that Phoebe ordered:

Some of the food we had. Apparently, their fish here is recommended.

The kiddie set that Alex's niece ordered. My first time seeing Jap food serve this way. We were all quite fascinated with her food.

Some of us...

Overall, the food was good, ambiance was fab... And obviously, the companion is fantastic! After the dinner, they all came to our new place to have a look. At that time, we have no sofa for them smiley face... But anyhow, we did served them wine.

Yet another relaxing, fun night out. We should do this more often!

Steamboat dinner

That weekend, I was in need of something steamy and warm for dinner, so Vincent suggested steamboat. We didn't wanna have steamboat outside Pudu (the porridge steamboat), so Vincent said he saw this Pulau Ketam Steamboat in Yu Lek, Cheras and we thought we'd give it a go.

We were there quite early (at 6pm) and the space is quite huge. Even as early as that time, about 30% of the tables were occupied.

We ordered steamboat for 2, and the soup was tom yam (for him), and mine is the herbal soup (additional RM4.00). Each steamboat per person is RM15.80.

Normally, when we go for steamboat, they will serve us with loads of vege, but for this restaurant, the vege was very little. It's like they were saving on vege... hmm... But their serving for the nomal steamboat food is so-so... Your average portion I would say.

We added meatboll. We thought they will give us about 6 balls, but there was about 15 balls for RM7.20!! We couldn't finish it, so we took it home for Moniq!

Hmm looks yummy rite?

Nothing special compare to your average steamboat, but not a bad place tho. Would I come back? Hmm the answer would be no.
