Sahara Tent for Jeebra

For Jeebra's birthday dinner celebration, we've decided to have it in Sahara Tent. This is my first time to this place. Apparently, the Middle Eastern food here is really up to standard. Might as well try this place together with the folks rite? More food and more companions.

This is what I've ordered, Lamb Kebab. The meat is really tender, and it's very juicy. Though it looks like a very small serving, but it is actually very filling. The bread that looks like naan is not naan. Supposedly, it's Middle Eastern bread.

Shy Flirt ordered this. It is exactly the same as my Lamb Kebab except that this is cutlet instead of minced. Thus, this is not as tender, but nonetheless, very tasty!

Jeebra ordered this. Forgot the name, but this is the only dish that we have ordered that has some sauce to it. The rest of the dishes are very dry.

This is ordered by Nutella - the Mandi Lamb. Sad to say, this is the worst cos it was too plain and ordinary.

Rock Chic ordered the Kabsa Chicken. The chicken was really tender and the sauce was just delightful!

These dish of Middle Eastern bread was given free. What sets this apart from the naan that we normally have is that this is thinner and less compact.

Time for dessert. They have 2 very unique desserts Middle Eastern style. I have forgotten the name though. These pastries are very sweet, and not to my liking. The white pudding-look-alike is some milk texture. The taste is too strong.

About 2 weeks ago, it was Jeebra's birthday. Jeebra is an ex-ME staff, and she has got to be the nicest and sweetest girl I've ever met! Indeed, she's a precious lil gem.

For her pre-birthday celebration, we went to Velvet to celebrate it. Here are some of the photos from the night:

This picture is just to show the 2 "smart" people who went suntanning without wearing sunblock. They suffered from sunburn and the skin peeled for about 2 weeks! And this is the aftermath. Lesson learned: Sunblock is created for a reason!

Since it was a birthday celebration, of course the birthday gal has to get drunk! This drink was ordered especially for her - Graveyard.

And obviously this was not her only drink. She had to gulped down another shot of Tequila, halfway from finishing her Graveyard.

She was so drunk that night after the Graveyard! LOL! I left early, but was already informed that she spend the rest of the night in the toilet trying to puke.

The unfortunate thing was that Velvet was raided that night. I left at 1am, and the police raided the place at about 1.30am. Poor them... They were instructed to provide the police with sample of their urine. They didn't get to leave the place until about 4am!

Abandoning Bangkok; Greeting KRABI

Seriously!!

This is the freaking 2nd time this piece of shit has happened to us. Twice in a row!

To refresh this history, story has to travel waaay back to Nov 2008. In Nov 2008, we were schedule to fly to Bangkok for a 5D4N trip. All I could think of is the shopping and food! After all the planning and thought put into it, just short of 5 hours before our plane was schedule for take off, we received an SMS from Air Asia (AA) that the riots (then was the "Yellow Shirt") has blockaded the 2 airports, hence, the flight has been cancelled.

WTF rite?! I was already on annual leave that day, and because we have set our mood and mind to have a holiday, we decided then and there to transfer our flight ticket to Hong Kong and made it a 4D3N trip. Of course, we paid the more expensive air ticket, but accommodation was fairly decent because I found an online deal for last minute bookings.

Now, fast forward to 1.5 years later, we are schedule to fly for Bangkok next Thursday (20th May 2010). We booked the ticket in Aug 2009 during the AA Zero Fare promotion, and it only costs us RM300 for 2! Damn cheap rite? At that time, BKK was as peace as ever.

And who in the world who have thought another group would pop up and create riot yet again?! Like OMG! Really?! AGAIN?!! This time, it is the "Red Shirt" with their demands. This time, they have taken over the shopping district.

Learning from the past, we came up with a contingency plan. If this trip fails, we'll transfer it to either Bali or Krabi. Early last week, there was some positive news from BKK. We thought the Red Shirt will accept their PM's road map and disperse. Then we will be able to go to BKK and enjoy ourselves.

BUT, it seems like BKK has its plan to hinder us from ever stepping our foot into their soil. Just yesterday and today, the Red Shirt has vowed to continue their rally. This situation rings the alarm for us, and today, I made a call to AA to ask for a credit shell so that I can re-route to another destination.

After much trouble and frustration, I've finally gotten the credit shell and transferred it to a new destination for our holiday - which is KRABI!

We will be flying to Krabi on 22nd May 2010, and return on 25th May 2010 - a 4D3N trip. And yes, we obviously have to top up the difference and it's more expensive since the flight is just next week. We played around with the dates, and my advise is that you do the same. Just 1 day difference could bring about a huge difference in the air ticket fare. Our top up was about RM500 for us both, which is reasonable, I would say.

Things for us to do in a week's time is to research this beautiful island, and prepare ourselves. I wanna know if there's shopping, partying, island hopping, swimming, eating, and simply, pure relaxation on the beach.

Woo-hoo! Krabi! I'm excited already!

Hubby read in the Pertama Residency FB that our first ever home had won a few awards at the Asia Pacific Property Awards! OMG! Can't believe this. Our home-sweet-home has gain recognition!

Preparing the formal wedding invitation

For our wedding, Bankers Club does not provide wedding invitation card. This is different from other wedding venues as this is normally included in their package. They normally will include wedding invitation card for about 5 cards per table. But for Bankers Club. it is not provided.

It is not a really big deal for us cos there are many card printing shops at hubby's parents place, and I know, if we take the effort and time, we will be able to find the design that we want and at the budget set.

So, back in February during one of the Saturdays, we got up early and drove to Pudu. Had our breakfast there, and started our hunt. It was a bright, sunny day, but we braced ourselves and walked from shop to shop, searching for our wedding invitation card.

We had some difficulties at first, cos most of the shops have more choices and varieties for Malay wedding card - Not too much focus or design for Chinese card, which is really weird.

I told hubby that I don't want my card to be red. It is very typical and kinda boring already with red. What I want is white. With that set in mind, it is easier for us to decide, but harder to find a shop that offers white cards with the design that I want.

After an agonising search for 45 minutes under the hot sun, we finally stumbled upon this shop named Nagamas. The moment we walked in, the shop assistant asked what we want, and we asked if they have Chinese wedding card invitation, and she gave us 2 big albums with a huge variety of choices for Chinese wedding card. I was so happy that I found a shop that has more than 20 choices of Chinese wedding card to choose from.

After about 20 minutes looking again and again at their designs, we have decided on a card! Yay! I wanted something more elaborate, but let's face it - Nobody will keep the card. As long as the card serves its purpose, which is to inform and invite our guests, it is more than perfect already. A more elaborate card will cost more, and that extra multiply with the number of guests amounts to a relevant increase in our card expenses. So, I have to stick to the budget that hubby had set, and still get to order the card that almost fit my requirement.

After finalising on the amount for the card that we have chosen, the sales assistant handed us a piece of paper for us to fill up. It is basically the name and particulars of the bride and groom and their family, and also the dinner details.

I have the form with me till today, but I still have not completed the form because I need to have my parents' name in Chinese characters. This is a very tough and challenging task for me as I don't read and write Chinese characters. I'll have to bring it back to my mum to have her complete the part for me.

We should be going back to Nagamas by end of this month to place our order. They will take roughly 1 month to deliver the cards to us. So, we should be getting our card by end of June, and the cards will be sent out by mid-July, which is only 2 months from my wedding *yikes*!

Time passes so fast, and I have tons and tons of things to prepare for my wedding, but here I am, still lazing around. We have finally selected our pre-wedding pictures and cut down the 500 poses to 125 poses *phew*! We'll be visiting Eyeshot this weekend to design our album.

And I know, I'm suppose to post up pictures of my wedding gown trial, pre-wedding pictures, and even some of my pre-wedding ROM pictures! I'll get to it hehehe! Once I'm done with this book that I'm reading *smilez*

The Loaf @ Pavilion

This is one of our favourite hangout in Pavilion - The Loaf. Bread and pastries have never been in hubby's list, so I rarely get to enjoy myself at a pastry cafe. But this is an exception. We like it here because the breads and pastries here taste so different!

What makes this bakery stand out from the rest is really the taste. I have to say, the smell and taste of their products are captivating! Don't expect you can save money by having your meal at this bakery, because their prices are above average.

Every time we pass by, we are always too full to try their range. So the other day, we bought some back home for our supper. Check out their packaging! Very stylo hahaha~

Since it was time to go crazy, we bought a total of 5 choices home that day. Now, I lost the receipts and can't really recall their name and prices. So am doing my best here.

One of my favourites from this bakery - Quiche. I actually love the Salmon Quiche, but they didn't have it and only had this Chicken Quiche. So I grabbed it. Their quiches are a good hit, and always sold out. Totally recommended.

They have monthly promotions and new menu. When it's a new product, it's 50% off. This is one of it - Naan. Can't really remember the name exactly. This is quite thick and hard to chew. Not my cup of tea.

Hubby picked this Chicken & Mushroom Pie. Not too bad if you are not too fussy.

This is hubby's favourite - Chicken & Ham. I chose this for him as I reckon this would be the most normal bakery that he would take, and sure enough, he likes it. I have gone to this place 3 times in a month, and all 3 times, I got this for hubby.

I really can't remember what this is... Something Caramel if I'm not mistaken. I see people queue for this and when they buy this, they purchase in dozens. Being a typical kiasu, I've decided to try one. And sure enough, I was very impressed. The filling in this is just so yummy - not overly sweet, but just enough to capture my tastebud. Divine!

Totally in love with their varieties of pastries. I've been back 3 times in a month. As this place is just behind my office, I will definitely be coming back more often.

Introducing our baby - Ginger!

I'm so excited! We have a new "baby", and she is absolutely ADORABLE! She is so gorgeous OMG!! *swoon*

So, what happened was we went to Eyeshot yesterday to collect our wedding pictures (yes, it is ready!). After that, we were suppose to have dinner with my mum but it was still early and the plan was to go to Ikea to grab some stuff but everywhere was freaking jam because it was a public holiday. So we skipped that and went to Kepong, where it all happened.

There's this pet shop where we used to go to look at dogs, and this time, for no reason, we just went in to have a look. The moment we saw her, it was really love at first sight. She reminded us so much of Moniq. It was almost like looking into Moniq's eyes all over again.

The sales girl saw us and was briefing us about the puppies. We can't help ourselves and asked if we can carry the puppy. Surprisingly, we didn't ask to carry her first. This was our first choice - A poodle.

She's so cute and tiny - the size of my palm! We carried her and although we like this puppy, we kept looking at another puppy, and hubby can't stand it anymore, and asked to carry her instead - Which was a Miniature Schnauzer.

The moment I carried her tiny little frame and looked into her eyes, I was hooked. I can't take my eyes off her. She looked at me with those lovable eyes and started jumping and moving and kicking in my grasp. My heart skipped a beat when I held her, and she made me all warm and fuzzy that I almost teared.

We decided to leave her and take a drink. We don't wanna make any mistake in bringing her home, but after the 30 minutes drink, I've begun to miss her terribly, and so does hubby. That was when we knew we had to bring her home, and be a part of our family.

Hubby made a call to his dad to get the cage out, and his mum to prepare for the puppy. When his parents heard, they were all very excited and kept calling hubby's phone non-stop hahaha! I guess everyone has been longing for this moment.

We returned to the shop, but there was a couple looking at her. They were deciding if they wanna take her home instead! I panicked, and prayed hard that they don't. And indeed, we were fated to be family. The couple said they'll think about it and leave, and we went straight to the counter and say we want to take the puppy home!

So, here she is. My new baby girl, Ginger! Ain't she the cutest?!

The sales girl then took her out and say she will need some time to clean her up and beautify her LOL! We said we'll wait in the shop. Since I had time, I checked out some of the other puppies they have available.

This has been my long-time favourite - the Golden Retrieve. I love the coat and how beautiful she will grow up to be. But I can never own one because I don't have the space in my house for a dog this big. It would be a pity if she can't have her freedom.

Now, this Pug has got to be one of the smartest dogs I've ever met in my life. See, they keep him in this cage and locked him up, but once the person leaves the room, he will use his nose to open the door, and let himself out! I've never seen any dog ever know how to do that!

Around 30 minutes later, the sales girl returned with my Ginger. She groomed her and finished her off with perfume. All made up, she passed her to me. Ginger is the name that I've given her. I reckon it's really ladylike and fits her very well.

We brought her home and hubby's dad was all smiles. I've never seen him so happy before. When he first saw her, he called her Moniq instead. I guess it will be difficult for everyone to change the habit. Even hubby's sister returned home early to greet lil Ms. Ginger!

She's one active lil fella. She moves non-stop! Jumping and running and hopping too! She can't walk properly yet cos she's only 3 months old. It's so difficult to get a good picture of her as she keeps moving, and we didn't have our DSLR camera with us. Hubby had to hold her down just to get a pretty good picture.

We got Ginger for RM1280. She comes with a chip and a cert. Her DOB is 8th Jan 2010. She has dandruff problem (which is very common) and is slowly recovering from it. We'll bring her back to the shop for her bath next weekend cos they gave us FOC 2 bath sessions for her.

We are very proud and over the moon with Ginger! She's now staying with hubby's family, and we'll only bring her to stay with us over the weekend. Maybe on Friday night.

Finally, something that my hubby and I got together. She's a blessing to us and hubby's family.

For those who do not know yet, our Moniq has left us and gone to heaven. It happened on the 15th day of CNY this year, which was 28th Feb 2010. I didn't mention it earlier cos every time I think of her, my eyes get wet and I can't breathe. The memories of her accepting me the very first time I met her, the times she accompanied me when hubby was working late, the moments she kept me entertained and also protected me... I really missed her.

I can't even continue to type Moniq's story cos I can hardly read my laptop's screen now since my eyes are teary. I miss you Moniq... so soo much.

Ginger is not a replacement, but an extended memory of Moniq. Moniq, thanks so much for all the fond memories we shared together. You will always be in my heart.
