I love baking. I’ve loved baking since I know how to operate an oven. I love baking cookies and cakes in particular.
When I was living with my dad, I baked every weekend. At that time, I have my brother to finish up whatever I baked. He claims that it is very good! LOL!
So when I moved out, I have not bake at all, and that was 4.5 years of no baking activities. That is why when selecting the microwave oven for our new place, I insisted on getting a very good microwave/convectional oven for me to continue with bakery.
The stacks of recipes I’ve used were left at my dad’s, and I reckon my dad would have thrown it away. So for this recipe, I had to google and search for what I thought would be decent recipe… Something simple but delicious. So I settled with Chocolate Chip Almond Cookies.
I would say I started off pretty rusty. I guess practices do make perfection, but as I have not gotten my lazy hands on any baking activities, I had to start from scratch. That includes getting the baking utensils, the measurement conversion between gm to ml and Fahrenheit to Celsius, ingredients hunting, etc. For all these, I had to go to 3 supermarkets to get everything in order before I start my mess.
So here it goes.
The ingredients I used.
That’s the batter of butter, sugar and flour.
After mixing in the egg and almond.
The batter ready to be baked in the oven.
This is the final result of the cookie! While baking the cookies, the aroma filled our living hall and it actually smelt good! I was so anxious waiting for it to get ready. There was the hiccup of trying to get used to a microwave/convectional oven to bake but after a few trial and errors, I finally made it!
The verdict? Sigh it was a disappointment. LOL! The cookie came out too salty… Very salty actually! Vincent couldn’t take it, but he said other than the extra saltiness, the taste was in reality very delicious! My mum tried it and said the same. The only person who really likes it and almost finishes it for me was Phoebe LOL! She loves salty stuff, so it was a really good deal for her.
Making a note to myself to use unsalted butter for any baking in the future. I totally forgot about this point. I hope the next round will turn out to be better!
