Enchanting Symphony

Continuing from this post, here, I have more pictures of the birthday cake that hubby brought for me. He told me that he was in Lot 10 to buy his own stuff, so I walked there and met him there. After dinner, hubby went to the toilet to do his own "business".

Hubby has this fixation on Haagen-Dazs' Rum n Raisin. He has just finished a tub just a day before, so I thought I'll get him a tub and surprise him.

I was caught off guard when hubby came and met me in Haagen-Dazs and showed me a receipt of a cake. LOL! Hubby has brought me a cake for my birthday on the eve of my birthday!

We bought the cake back which was filled with dry ice. It was not packed properly and some of the dry ice fell on my lap on the way home. It hurts like hell!!! My first and last encounter with dry ice.

This is my cake with the unlighted candle. This is so funny as we couldn't find any match or lit to light up the candle.

The name of this cake is Enchanting Symphony. It is Belgian chocolate ice cream dressed in fresh cream and decorated with fresh fruits.

The verdict? Absolutely divine! Truly heavenly!

The sales assistant gave us this brochure that displays all the cakes and flavors. We were informed that we could order the cakes that we want 3 days in advance. Hubby has already decided which one he wants for his birthday hahaha!

My hubby gave me another pleasant surprise on the eve of my birthday. After work, he quietly went to Lot 10 but told me that he wants to buy something else. I walked to Lot 10 and met him for dinner.

This is where I found out that he has brought me a cake from Haagen-Dazs.

My Birthday Eve

Today is the eve of my birthday! Man, it's been a year already! That was super fast! Can't really believe that I've lived more than a decade, and am now in the late 20s category officially!

OMG! Late 20s! I can't believe I am in my late 20s! LOL.

Anyways, continuing from this post, here I unveil the bag that my hubby has bought for me. And yes, the curiosity got the best of me. I couldn't wait till my birthday to unwrap the gift, so I had it opened earlier hehehe!

This is the bag that I've set my eyes on. Having able to own a Ferragamo makes me over the moon! This time, I wanted something different. It is BLUE, and it is a satchel. The other bags that I have are mostly totes and the only satchel I have is LV Speedy. I actually wanted a drawstring bag but can't find any drawstring Ferragamo. So I settled with this lil baby!

With this latest addition, I am missing another bag to complete my collection, so far! But for now, I am just enjoying this bag now! Luv the color, luv the rich leather and the design!

Back to the City

I've been on MIA for quite sometime huh? LOL well, I was away in Sibu for the past 3 days. I was there with hubby's parents, youngest sister, aunty, uncle and a cousin. We were all there to attend my sister-in-law's wedding.

This might come as a shock (it is for me) cos I've never thought it would be so soon for her as they have just started their own business in China about a couple of months back. Then, just a month ago, mum-in-law told us that we are going to Sarawak to attend her wedding. Sarawak because her husband is from there.

His sister has definitely changed and grown! She is building her own family, and even faster than us!

I have lots and lots of pictures because we were part-time photographer. They didn't engage any photographer, so we played the part to help out. Obviously it will take time to edit them and upload them.

So, here are some pictures from sis-in-law's pre-wedding pictures, which they took in China. This is the first time I (and the rest of the family) seen her in makeup! She never applies makeup and after applying it, she looked so different! So GORGEOUS! Like HK celebrity! Some say like Charmaine Sheh, Tavia Yeung and also Cecilia Cheung! Check it out, and tell me if she looks like the celebrities!

The prop that the bridal studio has provided was a mask. Very mysterious. I really like this twist. I've never seen this in any pre-wedding picture.

Very Victorian-ish, don't you think? I reckon she looks like another HK celebrity, but I don't remember her name.

Taken at one of the beaches. She had on this very simple gown, but the photographer's style implemented many artistic poses. The pictures really look like they were taken for advertisements.

She looks totally different here. I almost couldn't recognise her in this gown and makeup. But she does look really stylish!

I love this dress the most! I think it has gotta to do with the black details! I have a thing for white dresses with black details. She looks stunning!

I reckon those who knows my sis-in-law can tell that she does look really different in her pre-wedding pictures... Splendidly dazzling in her pictures!

iOS4 update

Hubby suddenly sent me an email with this link. It is for my iPhone OS update... The latest update is the OS4.

With all these new features, hubby is really inspired to download and install the OS4 in my iPhone. But he didn't do any backup!

Luckily, nothing happen to my stuff in iPhone. After the download, we tried out the features and it was just awesomeness!!! Fantastic!! Luv luv the new features in my iPhone.

Wedding Chaperon @ Dai Kam Jie

Most Chinese people would have been familiar with the title, and almost every traditional Chinese wedding, and a few contemporary ones, would need them to be there. Theirs is a profession that had its roots tracing back to the old days of ancient China. The ‘Dai Kam Jie’, known as ‘Xiniang’ in certain parts of China, or, in English, the wedding chaperone.

Traditionally, the ‘Dai Kam Jie’ is a female either hired by the bride’s family, or is a relative of the bride’s side, who is considered an ‘auspicious’ lady (with living spouse and children). Nowadays, the ‘Dai Kam Jie’, also known as wedding or chaperone, is a professional practice, where the practitioners have to achieve a certain level of competency in their skills and knowledge before they could qualify to handle an actual wedding ceremony. Knowledge of the trade is usually passed down from mentors to apprentices, though nowadays, interested individuals can find such courses offered and taught by professionals as well. While the role of the wedding chaperon had always been for women, there are now men working in the profession as well, with some who are as well-known and skilled as their female counterparts. They are commonly referred to as ‘Dai Kam Gong’ or ‘Dai Kam Kor’.

There are certain criteria that one needs to fulfill as a wedding chaperone:

1. Pleasant appearance
2. Quick thinking and observant
3. Good with speech
4. Well-versed in traditions, ceremonies and important customs

Their Roles and Tasks
In a contemporary wedding, the role of a wedding chaperone can extend to being the emcee, host, as well as entertainers of the event. It actually doesn’t stray far from the old traditional roles of the chaperone, which includes keeping up the merry atmosphere and interacting with guests.

However, the most important part of a wedding chaperone is to guide the couple through all the traditional customary ceremonies and rituals, particularly during the day of the wedding. Here are some parts of a wedding that requires the help of a wedding chaperon:

• Betrothal Ceremony

- Where he or she will help prepare the items of significance for the exchange of gifts.

• Dowry

- He or she will arrange for the time and date for the meeting and exchange, plus preparing the necessary items.

• Installing the Bridal Bed

• Initiating the Hair-Dressing Ritual for the Bride

• Prepare all the necessary items for the wedding ritual

- The incense and candles for the prayers

- The tea for the Tea-Serving ceremony

- Other symbolic or necessary items important for the wedding ceremony

• Assisting the bride during her journey to the groom’s house

• Interacting with the guests, especially during the banquet

Aside from the above, the wedding chaperon’s gift of speech is also one of the important reasons to hire them. Throughout the ceremony, the wedding chaperon will be saying auspicious words and greetings, and if there is any uneventful happening, or a guest who came up with a less-auspicious word, it will be up to the chaperon to ‘save the day’ with another auspicious remark, while keeping the merry mood of the wedding intact.


Originally, we didn't have any plans to hire a Dai Kam Jie. Sigh I actually wanted it from the start but hubby sad it's very old fashioned and didn't wanna waste the money to hire some aunty to talk.

During the luncheon, both our parents kept asking for the reason for us not hiring the Dai Kam Jie. Hubby sneaked away and left me alone to handle them. After all the pressure, we told them that we will "look into the matter".

After discussion the next day with hubby, we both agreed to get one. Now, with the time constrained and lack of resources, I really have no lead on where to start.

So I drew up 2 course of action:
a) Get the contact of the Dai Kam Jie that my cousin brother hired for his wedding last year
b) Search online, especially the malaysiabrides.com website

Plan A was the shortest but it didn't work. The Dai Kam Jie has already been booked for the date that I want. So I have only Plan B. Searched throught the website and I found many contacts which I called desperately, but they were all taken. Some of the Dai Kam Jie I've called were Xin Jie, Wendy, Fang Jie and many others. I even found this website that has a full list.

So, I seek for their help in recommending their friends who work in the same line. In less than 10 minutes, I received a call and she introduced herself as Yuk Kum. She told me that she is available and her service for the tea ceremony is RM390.00. So0 relief that I found a solution and an available Dai Kam Jie, I booked her immediately. The fee she charged was reasonable as I've seen some going for RM600++

If you ask me if her service is good and if it is recommended, I really have no idea. It is a gamble we have to take since this is so last minute.

*Fingers crossed* Everything will turn out just fine!

The World Cup Finale

It is quite unbelievable! After a month of outstanding (and unfair) matches for the FIFA World Cup 2010, it is finally the finale! Just at this post I was mentioning about the start of the 2010 World Cup, and before you know it, it is finals. The winner for the South Africa 2010 World Cup will be revealed in roughly 4-5 hours' time!


With all the matches, it is finally the time for the ultimate showdown between Spain and Netherlands. All eyes will be glued to this match to witness who will be the last one standing, and bring home this trophy.


Will it be the Spanish?


Or will the Dutch soccer players make their country proud?


My bet is on Spain, but hubby's on Netherlands. I really wanna watch this final match, but it is 2.30am local time. I don't think I have the energy to watch through it and make it to work the very next day. Hubby is already out to watch the match with his friends. And as usual, he will climbed into bed and report to me who has won.
